Every year, Independence Day at BS International School is more than just a date on the calendar — it is a celebration of who we are as a nation and as a community. This year, as India marked its 80th Independence Day, our students, teachers, and staff came together to honour the occasion with a vibrant programme built around the theme “Four Houses. One School. Endless Possibilities.”
Our four houses — Aurora, Verdant, Novus, and Ignis — stood united for a day filled with tributes, performances, and proud moments that reflected the spirit of the celebration: Nation First, Always First!
A Proud Welcome for Our Guest of Honour
This year’s celebrations were made even more special with the presence of Master Jonathan Gavin Antony, a World Champion Pistol Shooter, who graced the occasion as our Guest of Honour. As a young sportsperson who has brought recognition to the nation on the world stage, his presence was a source of inspiration for every student in the audience.
In appreciation of his achievements and his contribution to the country, the school presented him with a certificate of honour — a small token of the immense pride the BS International School community holds for him.

Recognising Excellence: Felicitating Our Student Achievers
No celebration of the nation would be complete without celebrating the achievements of our own students. The event featured a series of felicitation ceremonies where student athletes and achievers — from our senior years right down to our youngest learners — were awarded medals and certificates of appreciation for their accomplishments in various sporting and co-curricular pursuits.
Seeing students of all ages walk up to the stage, proud certificates in hand, was a powerful reminder of the talent and determination that our school nurtures every single day.
A Cultural Programme That Captured the Spirit of India
The heart of the celebration lay in the cultural performances put together by our students, each act a heartfelt tribute to the freedom we enjoy today:
Music and Song
Students took to the stage with live vocal performances backed by guitar, filling the air with patriotic melodies that set the tone for the celebrations.
Dance Performances
From energetic ribbon dances performed by our youngest students dressed in tricolour, to graceful classical dance performances by our seniors in orange and green attire, the stage came alive with colour and rhythm.
Mime Performance
A group of senior students delivered a moving mime performance, using only movement and expression to depict the struggles and triumphs of India’s journey to independence — a silent tribute that spoke volumes.
Anchoring and Speeches
Our student anchors led the programme with poise and confidence, guiding the audience through each segment of the celebration with warmth and enthusiasm.
Fancy Dress Parade
Perhaps the most heart-warming segment of the day was the fancy dress parade, where our youngest students dressed up as soldiers, freedom fighters, and national icons. Their innocent yet earnest portrayals of the heroes who shaped our nation’s history brought smiles and applause from everyone present.
A Day to Remember
As the celebrations drew to a close, one thing was clear — the spirit of independence lives on, not just in our history books, but in the hearts of every student who took part in the day’s events. At BS International School, we believe that nurturing leaders means instilling in our students a deep respect for the freedom, values, and diversity that define our nation.
Here’s to celebrating many more years of freedom, unity, and pride.
Jai Hind!
